Adi Kailash & Om Parvat: Sacred Places of Lord Shiva in Uttarakhand

Om Parvat Tour

Introduction

Adi Kailash and Om Parvat are two peaceful and sacred places in Uttarakhand. They are located in the Kumaon Himalayas, near the Indo-Tibetan border. Often called “Chhota Kailash,” Adi Kailash looks similar to the famous Mount Kailash in Tibet. Meanwhile, Om Parvat stands nearby and amazes visitors with a snow pattern that naturally forms the sacred ‘ॐ’ symbol. Because of this, many devotees, trekkers, and nature lovers visit every year. Together, these two sites offer a deep spiritual and natural experience. If you’re looking for a journey full of adventure, peace, and divine beauty, the Adi Kailash Yatra and Om Parvat Darshan will stay with you for life.

The Story of Adi Kailash

According to Hindu scriptures, Adi Kailash is one of the five sacred Kailash peaks. In legend, Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati stay here during the rainy season, away from Mount Kailash in Tibet. At about 6,191 meters high, Adi Kailash sits in the lush Darma Valley. It offers stunning views of snowy mountains, waterfalls, and the holy lake known as Parvati Sarovar. Moreover, many pilgrims believe a dip in this lake washes away sins. It also brings peace, strength, and inner healing. In addition to this, the route takes you to sacred sites like Gauri Kund, Kunti Parvat, Pandav Fort, and the Shiv-Parvati Temple. As a result, the trek feels both spiritual and rewarding.

The Mystery of Om Parvat

Just a few kilometers from Adi Kailash, Om Parvat stands tall with divine charm. Here, the snow forms the ‘ॐ’ symbol on the mountain’s face. This rare natural wonder is central to Hindu beliefs. Standing at 6,191 meters, Om Parvat can be best viewed from Nabhidhang, a small point on the way to Lipulekh Pass. Also, many people feel that Om Parvat gives off strong spiritual energy. To them, the ‘ॐ’ symbol feels like a prayer formed by nature itself. Therefore, seeing it up close leaves people inspired, peaceful, and deeply moved.

Why Visit Adi Kailash and Om Parvat?

  • Visit places deeply connected to Lord Shiva.
  • Enjoy both peace and natural beauty in the Himalayas.
  • Walk through quiet villages, green meadows, and old temples.
  • Whether you seek meditation or mountain adventure, this journey offers both.
  • Also, get blessings at Parvati Sarovar and Gauri Kund.
  • Finally, witness the snow-carved ‘ॐ’ symbol on Om Parvat—a sight that touches the soul.

Best Time to Visit

The best months to travel are May, June, September, and October. During this time, the weather stays clear, and the roads remain open.

Tour Details

Adi Kailash: The abode of Lord Shiva popularly known as Adi-Kailash is in the Indian
Territory, close to the Indo Tibetan Border. As per the mythology Adi-Kailash is
worshiped as the abode of Lord Shiva, has been considered the most sacred, and revered
mountain ranges in the world.
‘Adi Kailash’ is considered Lord Shiva’s oldest abode. Ravana is Biggest Follower of Lord
Shiva. Ravana comes from south (Lanka) to the far North Adi Kailash to pray Lord Shiva.
Adi Kailash popularly known as Chotta Kailash is a holy place on an ancient pilgrim
route in the Himalayan Range close to the Indo-Tibetan border. It is similar to Mount
Kailash in Tibet in its spiritual significance. Though in a very remote area, the Darshan
(view) of Lord Shiva’s abode is well worth the effort it takes to get there. It is an area of
great natural beauty, peace and serenity. Among the five abode of Shiva ‘Adi Kailash’ is
situated in Kumaon Mandal in Uttarakhand.

OM Parvat: It’s a miracle of nature, the shape of valley & peaks forms natural OM.
One can see white (Snow) OM on black background. No hypothesis, no assumption, &
no imagination are required to visualize OM. OM-The symbol and guide to meditation
connecting Man, God and the Universe Chanted at the beginning and finale of all
proceedings, extolled in the Upanishads as the best and most effective symbol of God.
From Nabhidang “Aum Parvat” the miracle of nature is clearly perceptible. Snow lies on
this mountain in the shape of a perpetual “Aum”, the primordial sound. All other slopes
may be bare but this inscription in snow is everlasting and as one observes it, one gets
the feeling that the mountain itself is Lord Shiva incarnate.
