🥾 Valley of Flowers with Hemkund Sahib – Itinerary (6 Days / 5 Nights)

Day 1: Rishikesh to Govindghat (Drive – 270 km / 10 hrs)

Scenic drive along Alaknanda River, overnight at Govindghat.

Day 2: Govindghat to Ghangaria (Trek – 10 km)

Easy trek through forest trails and river bridges. Overnight in Ghangaria.

Day 3: Ghangaria to Valley of Flowers and back (Trek – 8 km)

Explore the full valley till Pushpawati River bed. Return to Ghangaria.

Day 4: Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib and back (Trek – 12 km)

Steep ascent to the holy Gurudwara and glacial lake. Back to Ghangaria.

Day 5: Ghangaria to Govindghat (Trek – 10 km)

Optional visit to Badrinath (additional cost). Stay at Govindghat.

Day 6: Govindghat to Rishikesh (Drive – 10 hrs)

Return journey via Joshimath, Devprayag, and reach Rishikesh by evening.

Valley of Flowers is one of the most beautiful trek of Uttarakhand. It is trek of Himalayan National Park, which is also a UNESCO biosphere reserve, the trek is located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand near Joshimath in Puspawati valley known for Pushpawati river and famous for its wide varieties of himalayan flowers. There are more than 600 varieties of flowers in Valley of flowers. The difficulty level of the trek is easy to moderate and best for a beginner trekker or first time trekker. the beautiful valley is 2 km wide and 8 km long.  Its a monsoon trek and best time to visit this trek is from mid july to mid september. This trek usually covers with clouds over the valley, and the temperature stays around 10 to 20 degrees celsius. You can expect moderate rainfall during the trek all the time. You will also get to see the Sikh Shrine Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara, which is the highest Gurudwara above sea level, also this part of your trek is going to be your toughest day and we will cover 4300 feet altitude on the last day.

The  beautiful valley was discovered by mountaineers Frank S Smythe, R L Holdsworth, Eric Shipton. they all are British mountaineers,  while returning from a successful expedition to Mt.Kamet, they lost their way  and acciddentally find the beautiful valley with flowers all around. After that Frank Smythe  also Written book ”Valley of Flowers” dedicated to this beautiful valley.

Itinerary

Day 1Rishikesh - Joshimath

Arrival in Rishikesh, We will meet you up at Rishikesh Bus stand. After that we will drive to Joshimath. At evening we will reach at Joshimath. Evening spend in leisure, also you can explore the beautiful town of Joshimath by own and shop essentials for the trek.

Dinner and over night stay at hotel in Joshimath

Day 2: Drive Joshimath to Govindghat -Pulna and Trek to Ghangharia

Early Morning Breakfast at hotel, after that we will start our drive and by crossing Vishnuprayag we will reach at GovindGhat. From there we will drive to Pulna which is in 4 km of distance. Pulna is starting point of the trek, our guide will brief you here. After that we will start our trek, today we will cover 9 kms of trek after 5 kms we will reach at Byundar village, you will get to see magnificent view of Hathi Parvat peak, take a break here for 10 – 15 minutes and click some photographs. After a beautiful photo session start your walk and reach Ghagharia, today we will stay here. Enjoy your tasty dinner and take rest to charge your body for next day

Day 3: Ghangaria to Valley of Flower back to Ghangaria

Mornig breakfast at guest house, the journey to starting point of valley of flowers is 4 km from here. Start your trek and after few minutes reach the Ghagharia  check post, there is a graceful waterfall near the check post named as Laxman Waterfall. After 20 minutes of trek reach at the beautiful wooden bridge with Pushpawati river flowing below it. After few hour of trek reach the beautiful valle, as we mentioned that valley is 6 km long and 2 km wide, so it depends on trekkers how much distance we will cover depends on trekkers stamina.

In the beautiful valley you will get to see many varieties of Flowers like Aconitum, Ainsliaea, Arisaema, Aruncus, berberis, blue poppy, campanula and state flowers of Uttarakhand ‘Brahmakamal’ etc.

After exploring the beautiful valley back to Ghagharia, dinner and stay will be at guest house

 

Day 4: Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib back to Ghangaria

Morning breakfast at guest house and start your trek to Hemkund sahib. Its gonna be your toughest day in the whole trek as we will cover ascent height of 4300 feet in same day. Hemkund Sahib is 6 km from Ghagharia, and after 3-4 hours of trek we will reach at Hemkund Sahib, it is one of the holiest shrine of Sikh Community,situated at 4329 metres of height and also the World’s Highest Gurudwara. There will be many shops and dhabas over the path so you can energize yourself there. 

The Gurudwara has a beautiful lake in front, and you will see beautiful mirror image of Hathi Parvat and Hemkund Gurudwara together at the lake, lake is made up of melting glaciers of saptarishi peak and hathi parvat. After exploring the beautiful sight, trek back to Ghagharia before evening. Rest of the day will be at leisure, Dinner and stay at guest house

Day 5: Ghangaria to Govindghat and drive to Joshimath

Morning breakfast at guest house. Be ready to return to Joshimath. Start your down trek to Govind ghat. Badrinath is just 25 kms from here, so we can move to Badrinath, only if road permits us. There are some landslides zone between Govindghat and Badrinath and during monsoon it become worst, so if everything goes well, we will visit Badrinath and Mana village.

After that return back to Joshimath. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel

Day 6: Back To Rishikesh

Early morning we will start our return journey  to Rishikesh. At evening reach Reach Rishikesh, from here you can board to your home. We will advice you to confirm your travel tickets before reaching Rishikesh. Also you can stay at Rishikesh at your own cost. Please note that the journey from Joshimath to Rishikesh is not included in the cost

Day 7:Buffer Day

This day is reserved for the unfavorable condition if in case of road problem or the summit is the not possible on the given day. It will be the decision of the leading time. The cost of buffer day is not mentioned in the inclusion , so if in case team decides to use the buffer day the cost must be paid.
