  • Enroute crossing crossing Rampur Bushahr ( named after erstwhile Bushahr dynasty) and driving on NH5 for about 2 hours, we will drive on an amazing stretch of the old Hindustan-Tibet (aka old HT road) – the Tranda Dhank (cliff). The road through Tranda cliff was built during colonial times (1850s) when Lord Dalhausie was governor general of India. It is unbelievable that the road through a vertical rock face was constructed with basic tools without any modern blasting and rock cutting machines.
  • At Karcham, we would take a right over the Karcham bridge to cross over into the Sangla Valley. By evening, we will reach Sangla.

Day 3Sangla to Kalpa via Stay: Kalpa.

  • Today first we will visit to Chitkul (3450m) which is the last village in the valley, beyond which there lies Tibet. Chitkul has magical beauty and views which village provides are unmatched and incomparable. The temples are brilliantly carved here and even the houses. Don’t forget to take a photograph with sign board saying – ‘Hindustan ka Akhiri Dabha’. You will fell in love with this fairy tale village.
  • Afternoon we will head towards Kalpa. Kalpa(2960m) is one of the best places to see the sunset and sunrise over the Kinner Kailash range. Kalpa is the district headquarters of Kinnaur and was once the favorite getaway of Lord Dalhousie. Little has changed in Kalpa in the last 500 years. Legend has it that when Lord Dalhousie wanted to take a break from his hectic schedule in Shimla, he would come here on his Horseback. By the side of Kalpa is a 79‐foot rock formation that resembles a Shivling that changes the colour as the day passes and is visible to the naked eye on a clear day. Legend has it that Kalpa was the winter home of Lord Shiva. If it’s true, he couldn’t have found a more remarkable abode for himself, with enthrallingly majestic views of the Kinner-Kailash and Jorkandan peaks looming right above the village.

Day 4Kalpa to Tabo via Nako. Stay: Tabo
