Do dham Yatra Kedarnath- Badrinath

Do Dham is a Hindu pilgrimage where people visit two important temples in Uttarakhand, India. These two pilgrimage sites are part of the Chota Char Dham Yatra. It includes four holy shrines in Uttarakhand. The Do Dham Yatra typically includes the following temples:

Kedarnath Temple:

Kedarnath is a significant religious site in the Rudraprayag district. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas devoted to Lord Shiva. Kedarnath is situated at a height of around 3,583 meters (11,755 feet) above sea level. It is surrounded by beautiful snow-covered mountains. The temple was built by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century. It attracts thousands of devotees every year.

Panch Kedar Story:

The Kedarnath temple is part of the Panch-Kedar temple circuit. It is where you can find Lord Shiva’s hump in the form of Nandi. In the ancient stories, after the Mahabharata war, the ‘Pandavaas’ wanted to go on a journey to Heaven, for this they have to take permission from Lord Shiva. However, Lord Shiva was angry with them for killing their brothers & many others people in mass. They wanted to meet Lord Shiva to apologize for their sin. However, Lord Shiva didn’t want to meet them, so he took the form of a bull and hid in the Himalayas.

When the Pandavas arrived in the Himalayas to find Bheema, one of the five brothers saw many cattle. He realized that one of them was Lord Shiva. Bheema made himself bigger and let all the bulls pass under him, but one bull didn’t go through. He understood that it was Lord Shiva, so he tried to hold onto him from the hump. However, the bull vanished into the ground and reappeared in different areas of the Himalayas, which are now known as Panch-Kedar. The hump part is located in Kedarnath.

Badrinath Temple:

Located in the Chamoli district, Badrinath is one of the holiest shrines dedicated to Lord

Vishnu and is part of the famous Char Dham Yatra. It is situated at an altitude of about 3,133 meters (10,279 feet) above sea level and is surrounded by picturesque mountains. The temple is believed to be around 1,200 years old and is an essential pilgrimage site for Hindus seeking spiritual blessings
